We all heard on detox, and how detoxifying our body is important to rid ourselves of toxins inside us. But did you know that detoxifying could also do wonders for the skin? There is actually a thing called skin detox. How is that possible? Continue reading to know why detox is not just another fad but something you should incorporate in your lifestyle.
The skin covers up our body and it the largest organ. Everyday our skin is in contact with the external environment that contains pollution and dirt that can clog the pores and make your skin suffer. Detoxifying the skin is as important as detoxifying your body. Examples on how you can start your skin detox is as follows.
DRY BRUSH YOUR SKIN.
For your daily regiment, dry brush your skin, this method can improve circulation and stimulate the lymphatic system in releasing toxins. By dry brushing you also reduce skin puffiness and cellulite and can also remove dead skin cells. Another thing you should do is to have a cleanser. Choose a cleanser that is natural, chemical free and pH balanced.
TAKE DETOXIFYING BATH.
A weekly regiment should be taking a detoxifying bath. Examples of a detoxifying bath includes the following:
- Bring water and sliced ginger to a boil and add a cup of Epsom salt. Add the mixture to your warm tub of water.
- Add a cup of baking soda and a cup of Epsom salt to your tub. You can also add a cup of sesame oil.
- Add a cup of apple cider vinegar and Epsom salt to a hot bath.
For the face, applying a detoxifying clay mask is a must. The negative charges of clay can attract the positive charge of impurities, which are pulled on the surface of the skin.
START DETOXIFYING DIET.
Skin detox not only covers treatments you do externally, it also covers what you intake on a daily basis. Starting a detoxifying diet, will help your skin detox achieve the best results. Start your renewed diet by cutting back the consumption of refined sugar. As much as possible limit your intake of food products that contains high fructose corn syrup which are present in sodas, flavored drinks, packaged breads and other snacks. For your meat and dairy intake, choose wisely. Protein is important in detoxifying, but make sure to use products without hormones. These hormones are used to treat the animals and their byproducts, which can cause acne and skin problems. Also, use organic dairy products. And of course, consume more fruits and vegetables.
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
Last but definitely not the least, an important thing to always do is to drink plenty of water. Detoxing means to cleanse, and the best way to do that is with water. Not only does water flush out toxins and speeds up the digestive process, it also keeps your skin hydrated, keeps your complexion clear and prevents wrinkles. Drink at least 8-10 glasses a day.
