People who wants to lose some excess weight, automatically looks into their calorie intake, yes it is important, but it still depends on your lifestyle. Example of which is that of an athlete, an athlete’s life is active, fast paced and uses a lot of energy, the food they intake is not all about the calories but also about the kind of food they eat to sustain their lifestyle. So before you self assess how many calories you should intake, or if you follow the norm, look into your daily activities first, better yet consult a professional.
Below is an example or a guide on how you cat eat healthy in a day.
- Plan your menu. It is not about being obsessive, but knowing what you should eat beforehand especially if you are just starting to learn how to eat healthy is the key to success. An example of a menu for one meal is to have half a plate of produce, a quarter plate of grain and a quarter of protein. Fresh fruits are also good to add to the meal.
Meal examples are as follows:
Start with some protein (e.g. eggs) to help you control your appetite and calorie intake. Some vegetables and fruits and for your starch you can have a whole wheat bread. A glass of water and if preferred unsweetened tea or black coffee.
Salad greens with meat and oil based dressing. A bakes sweet potato and a glass of water. You can also have unsweetened tea and fresh fruits for dessert.
Chicken breast or any lean meat. A cup of pasta or rice. Some steamed vegetables, a glass of water or unsweetened tea/natural juice and some fresh fruit to cap it off.
- Avoid getting yourself hungry. Try to sneak in a healthy snack every 3-4 hours. This will help fuel your metabolism and avoid binges. A good snack can be a piece of fruit, vegetables or yogurt.
- Drink, drink and drink lots of water. Water replenishes our bodies and flushes away toxins. So drink as many as you can.
